Quick-Release

The Base Kit features our bestselling LeftField Mini 15mm LWS baseplate, with a Riser setting the KOMODO to the correct height. Our patented Open•UP system lets you lift the camera on and off any ARRI standard dovetail, for smooth setup changes. For balancing the camera on longer plates, the Baseplate can be half-opened to slide.

For complex rigging where every millimetre matters, the LeftField Mini Baseplate-Riser combo sets the KOMODO-X to the 15mm LWS standard height. This makes it easy to set the foundations for matte boxes, follow-focus and much more. So whether you’re wanting to preserve your look with quirky filters or just want a convenient lens support, the baseplate takes your camera to new heights – literally.

Easy Rigging

With the included Side and Top Rails, you’ve got a selection of rigging options in a compact footprint. For classic bolt-on accessories, you’ve got 1/4" and 3/8” threads. For quick-release components, there are QD sockets and integrated NATO rails. To keep your gear safe, each thread has a helicoil-reinforced steel insert to prevent loosening, and the NATO rails feature safety stops at either end.

Easily Handled

Whether you’re going handheld on a close-up or want to steady your grip while panning, the included Top Handle helps you to get an easy grip on your RED rig. A rubber inlay makes long handheld shots comfortable, and it can be built our further with our range of Master Handle Extensions for custom shapes.

Adaptable

A huge draw of the RED ecosystem is not being tied into one lens mount – especially now that Nikon’s Z-Mount has joined the family. If you want to try out new primes without damaging your lens mount, the Rails feature dedicated mounts for different Lens Adaptor Supports – including our own range and RED’s native Adaptors.

The Base Kit for RED KOMODO-X comes with all components and screws. You will require a 3mm and 4mm Hex Key in order to assemble it.

Riser to Baseplate

1. Align the four M4 screws with the outer four channels on the LeftField Mini Baseplate.

2. Use a 3mm Hex Key in order to tightly screw the two together.

Side Rails to Camera

1. Align the Right Side Rail with the right-hand side of the KOMODO camera body – making sure that the Bright Tangerine logo is the correct way up and facing outwards.

2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to screw the Side Rail into place.

3. Align the Left Side Rail with the left-hand side of the KOMODO camera body – making sure that the Bright Tangerine logo is the correct way up and facing outwards.

4. Use a 3mm Hex Key to screw the Side Rail into place.

Top NATO Rail to RED KOMODO (Non-RMI)

1. Align the two outermost 1/4" screw threads with the sockets on the top of the KOMODO.

2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to insert and screw the two included 1/4" screws through both the rail and camera body.

Top NATO Rail to RED KOMODO (RMI)

1. Align the two innermost 1/4"screw threads (labelled “RMI”) with the 1/4" screw threads on top of the RED Monitor Interface.

2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to screw the NATO Rail to the RMI.

Bar Bracket to Top Handle/Spacer

1. Align the Handle or Spacer’s nub with the inlet on the Top Bar Bracket, aligning the screw threads. If you are using the Spacer, align the Top Handle on the other side, ensuring the Spacer is flush against both components.

2. Insert the two M4 x 25mm screws through all components.

3. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tighten the screws, ensuring all three parts are secured.

The Base Kit for RED KOMODO-X is designed to work with the RED KOMODO-X, with the Top and Side Rails designed to work the KOMODO-X body. The Baseplate comes with the correct Riser for setting the camera to the 15mm LWS standard height, but can be interchanged with other camera risers.
