About Us

Bright Tangerine’s goal is simple: solve problems.

This mission began when Andy Subratie and Sarah King started Bright Tangerine in 2007.

Andy had built up a huge breadth of experience as an ARRI camera engineer: on-set to fix camera issues on the world’s biggest blockbusters - including the James Bond and Star Wars franchises. But Andy had grown frustrated with how the industry innovated. New ideas were shot down quickly, either due to the cost of R&D or the automatic assumption that it “couldn’t be done”.

Deciding to leave the industry behind, Andy turned to Sarah: who channelled that passion for innovation into a business, and Bright Tangerine was formed. With Andy’s keen eye and Sarah’s business mind, the pair set about delivering meticulously hand-crafted tape measures and bags for camera technicians.

As the company grew, they had the breathing room to try those new ideas. Andy’s attention to detail became a core part of the company ethos: with every product being precision-engineered and rigorously tested to meet the needs of film professionals. At a time when filmmakers had to choose between either a 4 x 5.65” or a 6” x 6” matte box, the Strummer Matte Box – Bright Tangerine’s first formal camera accessory provided both.

Their problem-solving approach expanded beyond products. As proud members of the 1% for the Planet initiative, Bright Tangerine donate to environmental organisations with every sale.

Today, the “impossible” ideas of old are the backbone of Bright Tangerine’s trusted product range and ethos.
