The Sony FX5 Top Handle Extension adds a clean rigging option to the rear of the stock FX5 handle: letting you have both audio control and rigging freedom in the same setup – so you never have to compromise on your build.
Torn between the FX5’s audio handle and your own custom grip? The Sony FX5 Top Handle Extension helps you have both at once. Expand the handle with our range of Handle Extensions, or simply add some extra hand space – the rig is yours to make, we just give you the tools to do it best.
Handled With Care
The Sony FX5 is a multipurpose beast of a camera, and having the XLR handle expands the possibilities for onboard audio. But if the shape or size of the handle isn’t to your liking, why not change it? Our range of Master Handle Extensions let you build out custom handles from the FX5, so your hands will always be comfortable.
Rear Rigging
Though the mounting threads are designed for our own accessories – the rear 3/8” thread for Handle Extensions and the top 1/4" thread for our FX5 Top Handle NATO Rail – there is nothing stopping you from freestyling your own setup. Add a monitor mount or any other accessory, with built-in anti-twist threads designed to keep everything on the straight-and-narrow.

The Sony FX5 Top Handle Extension comes as a standalone unit with the required screws. You will need your own 4mm Hex Key in order to install it.
1. Align the Extension with the screw thread on the XLR handle – the “G” logo should be the correct way up, with the lip of the Extension pointing down.

The Sony FX5 Top Handle Extension is designed for the Sony FX5’s stock XLR handle, with a dedicated 1/4" screw mount for the rear of the handle. It is also compatible with our range of Master Handle Extensions and the Sony FX5 Top Handle NATO Rail.
