Whether you’re going low to the ground for a tracking shot or panning upwards on an establishing shot, the Monitor Hinge for Sony FX6 makes sure you can support your vision. The Monitor Hinge adds pan-and-tilt functionality to your monitor, and mounts to our dedicated folding 8T NATO Rail.
With removeable locating pins for any monitor, the Monitor Hinge Kit lets you quickly add any external display to your rig.
A Complete System
Mounting to Sony’s 8T threads on the FX6 Top Handle, our Folding NATO Rail is ideal for minimal rigs or full builds. Quickly attach or detach your Monitor Hinge, with a setup time measured in minutes, rather than hours. You can keep the NATO Rail installed on your Top Handle – completely unintrusive on shooting.
Get the Right Angle
Rather than a fixed position for your monitor, the Universal Monitor Hinge expands the possibilities for positioning and adjustment in real time. The pan and tilt mechanisms can be independently locked off, making it easy to keep an eye on your shot on every take. And with the Folding NATO Rail adding a full 360-degree rotation, it is easy to get the right angle.
Locked In, Locked Out
When panning the monitor, two separate mechanisms give you added shooting confidence. An aligment ball clicks into place when the Monitor Hinge is exactly level, whilst a safety stop on the side allows you to comfortably fold the monitor for transport without risk of damaging the monitor.

The Monitor Hinge Kit for FX6 comes with all required screws, but you will require the stock Sony FX6 Top Handle to mount the NATO Rail – as well as your own 3mm and 4mm Hex Keys to install it.
1. Align the 1/4" screw with the front or rear 8T points on the FX6 Top Handle.
2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly secure the Rail in place.

2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly secure the Rail in place.
1. Align the monitor block’s 1/4″ screw with the thread on your monitor’s bottom or side.
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to screw the block to the camera.
1. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the locating pin(s) that you aren’t using them.
2. Store them in the cutouts on the top or bottom of the hinge.
1. Align the block with the hinge bracket, ensuring that the locating pin(s) correctly slot through to the monitor.
2. Align the two screws with the threads on both the monitor block and the hinge bracket.
3. Use a 3mm Hex Key to screw all components together.
1. Unscrew the clamp for the angle you want to adjust.
2. Once repositioned, re-tighten the clamp.
1. Slide the monitor hinge onto the NATO rail.
2. When positioned, tighten the clamp on the hinge to secure it in place.
NATO Rail to Stock FX6 Top Handle
1. Align the 1/4" screw with the front or rear 8T points on the FX6 Top Handle.
2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly secure the Rail in place.
NATO Rail to 1/4" Thread
1. Align the 1/4" screw with the 1/4" thread.
2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly secure the Rail in place.
Monitor to Monitor Block
1. Align the monitor block’s 1/4″ screw with the thread on your monitor’s bottom or side.
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to screw the block to the camera.
Removing Locating Pins
1. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the locating pin(s) that you aren’t using them.
2. Store them in the cutouts on the top or bottom of the hinge.
Monitor Block to Monitor Hinge
1. Align the block with the hinge bracket, ensuring that the locating pin(s) correctly slot through to the monitor.
2. Align the two screws with the threads on both the monitor block and the hinge bracket.
3. Use a 3mm Hex Key to screw all components together.
Adjusting the Monitor Angle
1. Unscrew the clamp for the angle you want to adjust.
2. Once repositioned, re-tighten the clamp.
Monitor Hinge to NATO Rail
1. Slide the monitor hinge onto the NATO rail.
2. When positioned, tighten the clamp on the hinge to secure it in place.
The Monitor Hinge Kit is designed for the Sony FX6, combining the 8T Folding NATO Rail and Universal Monitor Hinge. The NATO Rail mounts to either the front or rear Sony 8T points on the stock FX6 Top Handle; or 1/4" threads on a standard rig. For a secure mount, we recommend bracing the setup with our Sony FX6 Top Handle Brace
The Hinge mounts to any standard NATO rail and can be used with ARRI and SmallHD monitor standards with compatible locating pins. However, Atomos monitors – with their screw threads only being on the bottom of the monitor – are not compatible (unless using the monitor vertically).
