Ready for Anything
If you are juggling a complex shot lists with multiple shot types, then the Advanced Documentary Kit is the best PYXIS cage for reducing downtime. Based around our Universal Dovetail, you can quickly and easily load your camera onto Manfrotto tripods, DJI gimbals, and other compatible mounts. This keeps your setup light and nimble, with tool-free transfers from mount to mount.
Seamless Shoulder Shooting
For that more grounded and authentic filmmaking style, keep mobile with our Create Shoulder Rig – included in the Advanced Documentary Kit. Compatible with the Universal Dovetail, this lightweight and adjustable shoulder rig is perfect for run-and-gun PYXIS shooters. When you want to move back to static shooting, you can mount the entire setup via the Create Shoulder Rig’s integrated VCT-14 tripod mount.
Easily Handled
If a gimbal or shoulder rig isn’t working for you, why not shoot handheld? The Advanced Documentary Kit features our Create Top Handle, which mounts seamlessly to the PYXIS’ Top Plate for convenience and comfort. Ideal for carrying your camera, or shooting handheld, the Top Handle can be fitted with accessories via its own range of accessory mounts, or built up with our range of Master Handle Extensions.
Deep Customisation
For actually building out your Blackmagic body, the Advanced Documentary Kit features a range of accessory mounting points. The dedicated Top Plate and Cheese Plate each feature an array of 1/4" and 3/8” anti-twist mounting threads; along with MAP M4 points, QD sockets and an ARRI rosette. There is also an added 15mm Rod Console for adding lens motors or EVFs, and the Cheese Plate doubles as a vertical adaptor – in case you were wanting to post some footage to your social channels.

Bright Tangerine’s range of dedicated accessories for the Blackmagic PYXIS allow filmmakers to elevate their shooting setup in any situation. Durable and dependable, each component has been precisely engineered to solve problems and reduce downtime on set.
The Advanced Documentary Kit for Blackmagic PYXIS comes with all required components and screws; but you will require your own 2.5mm, 3mm and 4mm Hex Key – as well as a flathead screwdriver – to install it.
1. Align the 1/4” and 3/8” screws with the corresponding threads on the base of the PYXIS.
2. Use a flathead screwdriver to tighten each screw into place.
1. Align the captive 3/8” screws of the Top Plate with the corresponding threads on the camera – the “G” logo and “PYXIS” text should be on the front end.
2. Use a 2.5mm Hex Key to tightly secure the Top Plate in place.
1. Align the two 1/4”-20 screws with the marked threads on your Top Plate.
2. Using a 4mm Hex Key, alternately tighten each screw until the Top Handle is securely fastened to the Top Plate.
1. Align the pins of the Rod Console with corresponding threads on the front of the Top Plate.
2. Use a 2.5mm Hex Key to tightly attach the Rod Console to the Top Plate.
1. Align the captive M4 screws with the outer screw threads on the right hand side of the PYXIS.
2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly screw them all into place.
1. Slide the Universal Dovetail in through the front of the Create Shoulder Rig, with the Dovetail facing forward.
2. Tighten the lever clamp until the dovetail is secure.
Universal Dovetail to Camera
1. Align the 1/4” and 3/8” screws with the corresponding threads on the base of the PYXIS.

Top Plate to Camera
1. Align the captive 3/8” screws of the Top Plate with the corresponding threads on the camera – the “G” logo and “PYXIS” text should be on the front end.
2. Use a 2.5mm Hex Key to tightly secure the Top Plate in place.
Top Handle to Top Plate
1. Align the two 1/4”-20 screws with the marked threads on your Top Plate.
2. Using a 4mm Hex Key, alternately tighten each screw until the Top Handle is securely fastened to the Top Plate.
Front Rod Console to Top Plate
1. Align the pins of the Rod Console with corresponding threads on the front of the Top Plate.
2. Use a 2.5mm Hex Key to tightly attach the Rod Console to the Top Plate.
Cheese Plate to Camera
1. Align the captive M4 screws with the outer screw threads on the right hand side of the PYXIS.
2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly screw them all into place.
Universal Dovetail to Shoulder Rig
1. Slide the Universal Dovetail in through the front of the Create Shoulder Rig, with the Dovetail facing forward.
2. Tighten the lever clamp until the dovetail is secure.
The Advanced Documentary Kit for Blackmagic PYXIS is designed to be compatible with the Blackmagic PYXIS – both 6K and 12K variations. The dedicated Top Plate and Cheese Plate are specifically designed with the camera in mind, but all other components are universal and can be recycled for use in other camera builds.
