OpenRig™ Expert Kit
Description
Learn one system, once. The OpenRig™ Expert Kit is the best camera cage for… well, anything really. From your start-up point-and-shoot to the most ambitious IMAX pipe-dreams, you’ll have a way to rig up your camera – without ever touching the camera itself.
What's Included:
A camera cage is kind of a one-trick pony: fitting at best a few variants of the same camera. And if you upgrade the trick, you have to throw the pony out with it. Not anymore: with the OpenRig™ Expert Kit, you can ready your rig for any camera anywhere. The same rigging options, the same mounting freedom, an all-new way to shoot.
From your basic mirrorless all the way up to 65mm, the OpenRig™ Expert Kit is ready for anything.
Set for Life
It’s easy to get overwhelmed when starting your filmmaking journey: complex jargon to cut through, gatekeeping forums telling you anything less than an ARRI ALEXA is amateur, and seemingly simple questions always have complicated answers. The OpenRig™ system is designed to help: learn one system, once.
Balanced Builds
Whether you’re working with a bulky prime lens or a svelte setup, you can keep your rig balanced and ready for anything. The Arca Base features a built-in safety which engages with the Picatinny-style NATO rails on the OpenRig™ Rail – for precise balancing for any build. If you want to just slide back-and-forth without triggering it every time, the safety can swing up and stay out of your way: simply push and twist the orange safety button. There’s also a built-in bubble level on the Arca Receiver, to help remove any unwanted Dutch angles.
Easy Rigging
From ARRI to Z Cam, the Halo Universal Camera Cage gives you as many options for rigging as there are unpaid invoices on your hard drive. There are 1/4" and 3/8” screw threads, each with anti-twist points. There are integrated NATO rails on the top and sides. There are QD sockets, Cold Shoe mounts, MAP M4 points. If you’re wondering “will the Halo work with this?”, the answer is yes every time.
Camera-Agnostic
Your camera is one of the most expensive things you own (or rent). Avoid putting strain on it with the OpenRig™ Expert Kit, where you rig the cage, not the camera. The ultra-strong design of the Halo can take the weight of the bulkiest accessories without breaking a sweat, reducing the stress on your camera body – and you. The OpenRig™ Rail also features dual NATO rails – giving you even more options for rigging.
(S)top Notch
But with NATO rails, there’s always the danger of an accidental release. The OpenRig™’s Picatinny-style rails (the ones that looks like castle walls) help prevent that, with notched intervals that OpenRig™ accessories can stop at thanks to the easy-press safety. If you want smooth sliding, simply press the safety catches to disengage.
No Gatekeeping
We’ve worked to make the OpenRig™ as open as possible, which means that assembly is almost entirely tool-free. You’ll need a flathead screwdriver to install the Arca Dovetail to your camera, but that’s it – and we’ve included that too. Every other part of the OpenRig™ Expert Kit can be installed with rock-solid clamps. Worst-case? If you lose the flathead, you’ll need a penny to take everything apart.
Raised Standards
If you’re needing to build out a full cine rig, then you’ll want consistent rod support. The OpenRig™ Expert Kit’s included Rod Brackets are spaced 60mm apart centre-to-centre: the standard distance for 15mm LWS rigging. You’ll need to fine-tune the camera height to suit your specific make and model via our range of Risers, but from there you’ve got easy access to a range of rigging options.
Seamless Setups
Whether you’re fixed on sticks or perfecting your ninja-walk, the OpenRig™ Expert Kit is ready to assist. The base of the OpenRig™ Rail can mount directly to Manfrotto tripods and DJI RS gimbals – with a spring-loaded gear rack to help balance on gimbals like the RS 4. If you’re wanting something even more straightforward, use the bolt-on screw threads to fix your OpenRig™ in place – then quick-release the rest of your gear as needed.
Beginning of the End
We pride ourselves on our camera accessories being single-purchase, rather than single-use: with field-tested designs and a build quality head and shoulders above the rest, you’ll be able to use the OpenRig™ Expert Kit for years to come. The first time you buy the OpenRig™ is also the last time – no more wasted money.
Part of the OpenRig™ System
