No complicated setups, no camera-specific risers, no downtime: the Halo Universal Advanced Kit for Small Cameras is the ultimate rigging solution for filmmakers. Assembly is quick and easy, and the Advanced Kit contains everything you need to get shooting in seconds. There is a Top Handle for handheld shooting, or you can seamlessly swap mounting points with the Universal Dovetail: the only Dovetail that simultaneously fits both DJI and Manfrotto mounting.

With a quick-release Arca mount for switching out small cameras, the Halo Universal Advanced Kit is the perfect camera cage for filmmakers of any skill level.

Universal Camera Cage

With the Halo Universal Camera Cage, any camera can be set up for rigging in moments. The Halo forms a square around the camera body, striking a balance between clearance for large cameras and a compact form factor. This means that any camera, from the compact Sony FX30 up to the ultra-powerful RED V-RAPTOR XL, can be mounted.

Dovetail Design

Complete the cage with our Universal Dovetail, which mounts via the included 15mm LWS Rod Bracket to form a base for any camera. The Dovetail is the only one of its kind to have dual compatibility with Manfrotto tripods and DJI gimbals, allowing you to seamlessly transition from mount to mount.

Get Creative

The Advanced Kit also features our Create Baseplate: the perfect mounting point for your setup.  With 1/4″ and 3/8” screw threads in the base and a multi-standard dovetail receiver on top, the Baseplate perfectly complements the Universal Dovetail for easy static mounting. The upper and lower dovetail channels make the Baseplate compatible with Arca, DJI and Manfrotto dovetail plates; further expanding the definition of “Universal”.

Clearance for Compact Cameras

The issue with a majority of hybrid and compact cinema cameras is the minimal distance from the lens mount to the base of the camera, which causes lenses to collide with many standard dovetails. With the included Arca Riser and Arca Receiver, the camera is elevated so that lenses don’t clash with the dovetail. This doubles as a quick-release system, meaning that you can easily remove your camera from the rig for adjusting settings or swapping out lenses.

Convenient Carrying

For handheld shooting, the Halo Advanced Kit comes with a low-profile Short Create Top Handle which mounts to the top of the cage via the integrated NATO rail. The handle has a small mechanism that clicks into place when exactly centred, optimising the balance for transporting the camera.

Instructions/Assembly

The Halo Universal Advanced Kit for Small Cameras ships partially pre-assembled. You will require a flathead screwdriver and 4mm Hex Key Hein order to assemble it.

15mm LWS Rod Bracket to Dovetail

1. Align the two 3/8” screws on the top of the rod bracket with the threads on the base of the dovetail.

2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to tighten both screws into place.

Rods to Rod Bracket

1. Slide the 15mm rods into their bracket until correctly positioned.

2. Use the lever clamps to tighten each bracket and secure the rods in place.

Halo to Rods

1. Slide the completed Halo onto the 15mm rods.

2. Use the two lever clamps to tighten each bracket when in the optimal position.

Arca Riser to Camera

1. Align the 1/4”-20 screw thread with the base of your camera.

2. Use the D-Ring screw to tighten the Riser to your camera body.

Arca Receiver to Universal Dovetail

1. Align the Receiver in the central channel of the Universal Dovetail and insert the two 1/4″-20 screws.

2. Use a flathead screwdriver secure the two together.

Arca Riser to Arca Receiver

1. Slide your Arca plate sideways along the Arca Receiver (following the direction indicated by the arrows).
2. When clicked into place with the safety stops, secure with the locking lever.

Top Handle to NATO Rail

1. Slide the NATO clamp onto a corresponding NATO rail – if the rail has a central socket, you will hear the spring-loaded balls click into place when the handle is centred.

2. Use the lever clamp to tighten the Top Handle into place.

Universal Dovetail to Create Baseplate

1. Load the Dovetail into the Create Baseplate from the rear – ensuring that the safety screw is loaded in the “Manfrotto Mode” channel.

2.When positioned, lock the dovetail in place with the locking mechanism.

Compatibility

The Halo Universal Advanced Kit for Small Cameras is compatible with any camera, large or small. The Arca Riser and Arca Receiver provide clearance for compact camera bodies, but the Halo Kit can be used without them for larger models where lens mounts are higher.
