Description
The Advanced Kit for Blackmagic URSA Cine brings the comfort and convenience of our LeftField system to Blackmagic Design’s flagship cinema camera. With a 15mm LWS baseplate that features our ever-popular Open•UP mechanism, you can quick and easily change your setup from handheld to mounted to any ARRI dovetail.
Featuring a huge range of rigging options, the Advanced Kit is the ideal choice for Blackmagic shooters of any skill level.
Lift-Off
The LeftField 3 Baseplate uses our unique Open•Up quick-release system: a three-stage design which lets you securely lock the baseplate in place, slide along a dovetail or lift it off vertically. This gives you full freedom of positioning and makes it easier than ever to transfer your camera from mount to mount.
15mm LWS Standard
Looking to build an in-depth cine rig? Start with the right foundations. The combination of Baseplate and Riser sets the URSA Cine to the 15mm LWS standard height: setting the stage for mounting matte boxes, follow-focus and other rod-mounted accessories.
A New Point of View
If you find that Blackmagic’s stock EVF is a little ungainly on your rig, but still want the freedom of movement, then consider our simple solution. With a 19mm rod bracket, that can be mounted anywhere on your setup, you can easily adapt the viewfinder for more low-profile setups.
Deep Customisation Options
Our URSA Cine Top Plate is designed to maximise the options available to filmmakers, with a huge range of rigging options. Standard-issue 1/4″ and 3/8” screw threads line the Top Plate, with dedicated locating pin slots to ensure a firm grip; as well as QD sockets and MAP M4 points for more specific accessorising. The Advanced Kit also features the Top Plate Extension and optional Front Rod Console for 15mm rods – perfectly positioned for lens motors or EVF mounts.
Handle with Ease
For handheld shooting, the Advanced Kit features a 1/4″-20 Top Handle, designed to offer comfort and convenience in equal measure. It is covered in mounting threads for helping you rig accessories, as well as full compatibility with our range of Master Handle Extensions – allowing you to shape the handle as you need.

Instructions/Assembly
The Advanced Kit for Blackmagic URSA Cine comes with all required screws and components. You will require a 2.5mm, 3mm and 4mm Hex Key in order to install the kit to the camera.
Riser to Baseplate
1. Align the six M4 screws with the inner six channels on the LeftField baseplate.
2. Use a 3mm Hex Key in order to tightly screw the two together.
Riser to Camera
1. Align the 3/8” and 1/4″ screws in the Riser with the threads on the URSA Cine’s base.
2. Use a 4mm and 2.5mm Hex Key to secure the two together.
Baseplate to Dovetail
1. Slide or lower the LeftField baseplate onto the dovetail, half-locking the lever to adjust the positioning.
2. When in position, fully close the baseplate lever.
Top Plate to Camera
1. Align the three captive 1/4″ screws with the three slots on the Blackmagic URSA Cine.
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to tightly screw the Top Plate to the camera.
Top Plate Extension to Top Plate
1. Align the Top Plate Extension’s M4 screw with the thread marked “EXT” on the back-left or back-right of the Top Plate.
2. Use a 2.5mm Hex Key in order to secure the Extension in place.
Rod Console to Top Plate
1. Align the front 15mm rod console M4 screws with the matching threads on the Top Plate in the orientation you require – either higher or lower from the camera.
2. Secure the rod console to the plates using the 2.5mm Hex key.
Rod Console to Top Plate
1. Align the front 15mm rod console M4 screws with the matching threads on the Top Plate in the orientation you require – either higher or lower from the camera.
2. Secure the rod console to the plates using the 2.5mm Hex Key.
Top Handle to Top Plate
1. Align the two 1/4”-20 screws with corresponding threads on the top plate.
2 .Using a 4mm Hex Key, alternately tighten each screw until the Top Handle is securely fastened to the Top Plate.
Compatibility
The Advanced Kit for Blackmagic URSA Cine is compiled with the URSA Cine specifically in mind, featuring an array of components designed to complement the camera’s design. The Top Plate is designed to be compatible with the URSA Cine alone.
The LeftField 3 Baseplate and Riser set the URSA Cine’s optical centre to the 15mm LWS standard height, allowing users to couple the camera with rod-mounted accessories such as follow-focus motors and matte boxes.
Other components, such as the Create Top Handle and ARRI Standard Dovetail, are universal; whereas others such as the LeftField 3 Baseplate and Riser are cross-compatible with other camera systems.
