This comprehensive kit for the Misfit Atom provides everything you need to set the matte box up with both 15mm Light Weight Support (LWS) and 19mm Studio rod standards. Easily attached to the front of your camera rig, and just as easily removed, the 2-stage matte box is a lightweight and versatile addition to your system. Reduce internal reflections with the ARF Tilt Bracket and go even lighter by removing the rubber shade.

Made from durable materials such as anodised aluminium and elasto-polymer, the kit is an essential for lightweight shooters.

Our Lightest Matte Box

The Misfit Atom weighs just 195g with the shade attached, making it a minimal addition to your camera rig. This makes it a perfect choice for gimbal setups or handheld rigs: allowing operators to easily add filters without adding weight. The shade can also be separated, reducing the weight down to just 98g and turning the Misfit Atom into an efficient filter holder.

This kit includes brackets for both 15mm LWS and 19mm Studio setups, enabling secure mounting of your Misfit Atom matte box to industry-standard camera rigs. 2-Stage Versatility

As a 2-stage matte box, the Misfit Atom is a great tool for customising your camera’s visuals with space for any pair of filters at a time. Maintain consistent exposure with ND filters, create a unique look with some diffusion – or do both at the same time. Capable of holding both 4” x 5.65” and 4” x 4” filters, the Atom allows you to blend form and function. With the addition of the Anti-Reflective Filter (ARF) Tilt Bracket, you have fine-tuned control over the lens flares in your setup.

Compatible with Cine & Stills Lenses

The Misfit Atom is compatible with a broad range of lenses with an outer diameter up to Ø114mm. Combine with our range of Clamp-On Rings to use smaller diameter lenses with the Misfit Atom with no light leaks. Swapping lenses is quick and easy, reducing downtime between takes.
For stills lenses and lenses that don’t have a clamp surface, use our Threaded Donut Rings which screw into filter threads from Ø67mm- Ø95mm.

Compatibility

The Misfit Atom is compatible with lens outer diameters as wide as Ø114mm, and can be fitted with both 15mm LWS or 19mm Studio support brackets for quick changeover on set.

The filter holder can accommodate both 4” x 5.65” and 4” x 4” filters.

Instructions/Assembly

The Misfit Atom is a standalone item that comes with all required components for clipping onto a lens bracket.

15mm Bracket to Misfit Atom
1. In order to attach the 15mm Rod Bracket to the Misfit Atom, first attach the 15mm LWS Bracket to the 15mm LWS Bracket Attachment by unscrewing the two screws from the Rod Bracket and reinserting them via the Bracket Attachment, ensuring the two components are tightly aligned.
2. Next, unscrew the two screws on the top of the Bracket Attachment, and thread them back in, aligned with the threads on the Misfit Atom’s base. Screw them tightly back together. The Bright Tangerine “G” on the Bracket attachment should be facing towards your camera.
19mm Bracket to Misfit Atom
1. Having installed the 15mm Bracket to the Misfit Atom first, install the 19mm Bracket below by aligning the 19mm Bracket’s captive screw with the thread on the base of the 15mm Bracket.
2. Twist the 19mm bracket into place until tightly secured and level.
ARF Bracket to Misfit Atom
1. To install the ARF Bracket inside the Misfit Atom’s filter holder, align the screw threads of the Bracket with those inside the Misfit Atom and align the two included screws.
2. Tighten the screws until the ARF Bracket sits level across the base of the Misfit Atom.
15mm Bracket to Camera
1. To install the completed Misfit Atom on a 15mm LWS rig, loosen the two rod clamps by twisting the orange clamp threads, and align the rod bracket with your pair of 15mm rods.
2. Insert the Misfit Atom 15mm LWS Bracket onto the rods until the matte box rests against your lens with no light leaks.
3. Tighten the rods by twisting the orange clamp threads, and twist the corresponding orange bracket on the matte box itself to securely fasten the Misfit Atom to the lens.
Misfit Atom to Lens (Clip-On)
1. To mount the Misfit Atom to a lens, align the matte box with the lens so that it is level with the lens’ outer diameter.
2. Twist the orange locking screw to secure the matte box in place.
Filter to Matte Box
1. In order to mount filters onto the Misfit Atom, loosen the top catch by pressing down on it.
2. Insert your filter, bottom-first, into the matte box – allowing the top to slide into place under the catch.
3. Release the top catch so that the filter is clipped into place.
Secondary Filter to Matte Box
1. Repeat the steps required to install the first filter into the Misfit Atom: loosen the top catch by pressing and holding it.
2. Insert the second filter bottom-first in front of the first – ensuring that the two are level and aligned.
3. Release the top catch.
Removing the Rubber Shade
1. To remove the rubber shade, unclip the rubber shade from around the edges of the Misfit Atom and pull it away.
2. To reinstall it, tuck the edges back into place, ensuring a tight and even fit with no light leaks.
