Versatile BUD Platform

The Ātman Shoulder Rig uses the wider 88mm ARRI BUD standard, integrating smoothly with BUD-compatible bottom plates such as our B4003.1056 – Universal BUD Plate and B4004.1038 – BUD Bottom Plate for the Sony BURANO. Additionally, it is also compatible with ARRI ALEXA 35, MINI, and MINI LF camera models when paired with the BUD-1 and BUD-3 bottom plates.

Optimal Balancing

The camera’s placement on the shoulder rig impacts the overall balance of the setup significantly. Using the ARRI BUD dovetail standard, we provide a spacious 165mm of sliding capacity, enabling you to adjust and evenly distribute weight, reducing the strain on your back, neck & shoulders.

The balance can be fine-tuned with added precision using the sliding shoulder pad situated on the frame.

Tools required:

Flathead screwdriver

Assembling the shoulder rig:

1. Attach the shoulder pad to the frame by sliding it on. Ensure you complete this step before installing the VCT-14 kit.

2. To set up the VCT mounting kit, align the locating pins with the corresponding holes on the KASBAH Ātman frame. Fasten the two screws located on the rear foot and the three screws on the front foot using a 4mm Hex key.

3. To attach the front 15mm rod bracket, align the two captive screws with the mounting holes at the front of the frame. Secure them using a 3mm Hex key in a crisscross pattern.

4. If needed, connect a hand or remote grip to the ARRI rosettes and adjust as necessary.

5. Slide the camera package onto the BUD dovetail and secure it in place.

6. Place the shoulder rig on your shoulder and adjust the camera and shoulder pad positions for maximum comfort.

7. Secure the rig onto a VCT-14 plate.

8. Before starting filming, make sure all connections are secure to avoid accidents or mishaps.

Installing the BUD Plate:

1. Check the bottom of your camera for the screw sizing and positioning. Then, match the screws with the BUD plate. Thread the 3/8″ screws into the channel, while the 1/4″ screws can be inserted along the channel and held in place by the rubber ring.

2. Attach the plate to your camera by tightening the mounting screws with the flathead screwdriver.

3. You can now slide the BUD plate onto your accessory from the front or rear and lock it in place using the orange lever.

4. To release the camera, unlock the lever, slide the camera to the end of the dovetail, and press the safety button to release it from the dovetail.
