Secure Monitor Mounting

Whether you’re using a dedicated camera monitor like those that come with the Fujifilm GFX ETERNA or a third-party monitor from SmallHD, the Universal Monitor Hinge is ready for you. It comes with locating pins for SmallHD and ARRI standard monitor mounting, which can be easily removed when not in use and stored in the Hinge itself. The 1/4″ mounting screw is also captive, to avoid you losing it when removing your monitor.

Quick-Release Convenience

The Universal Monitor Hinge mounts to any standard NATO rail, meaning that it can be installed in seconds to almost anywhere on your camera rig. This gives you plenty of options for rigging: from simple side-mounting such as on our NATO Cheese Stick to extended up and above the camera using some support rods and our 15mm NATO Rail.

Get the Right Angle

Rather than a fixed position for your monitor, the Universal Monitor Hinge expands the possibilities for positioning and adjustment in real time. The pan and tilt mechanisms can be independently locked off, making it easy to keep an eye on your shot on every take. The monitor remains horizontally aligned, preventing any unwanted Dutch angles.

Locked In, Locked Out

When panning the monitor, two separate mechanisms give you added shooting confidence. An aligment ball clicks into place when the Monitor Hinge is exactly level, whilst a safety stop on the side allows you to comfortably fold the monitor for transport without risk of damaging the monitor.

Instructions/Assembly

The Universal Monitor Hinge comes with all required screws and components. You will require your own 3mm and 4mm Hex Keys to install it.

Monitor to Monitor Block

1. Align the monitor block’s 1/4″ screw with the thread on your monitor’s bottom or side. <
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to screw the block to the camera.

Removing Locating Pins

1. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the locating pin(s) that you aren’t using them.
2. Store them in the cutouts on the top or bottom of the hinge.

Monitor Block to Monitor Hinge

1. Align the block with the hinge bracket, ensuring that the locating pin(s) correctly slot through to the monitor.
2. Align the two screws with the threads on both the monitor block and the hinge bracket.
3. Use a 3mm Hex Key to screw all components together.

Adjusting the Monitor Angle

1. Unscrew the clamp for the angle you want to adjust.
2. Once repositioned, re-tighten the clamp.

Monitor Hinge to NATO Rail

1. Slide the monitor hinge onto a compatible NATO rail.
2. When positioned, tighten the clamp on the hinge to secure it in place.

Compatibility

The Universal Monitor Hinge mounts to any standard NATO rail and as such is compatible with any camera setup – provided it has a compatible rail. The Hinge can be used with ARRI and SmallHD monitor standards with compatible locating pins. However, Atomos monitors – with their screw threads only being on the bottom of the monitor – are not compatible (unless using the monitor vertically.
