LeftField Upgrade Kit (Canon C70 to C80)

Description

The LeftField Upgrade Kit (Canon C70 to C80) replaces the C70 Top Plate and Side Plate whilst maintaining compatibility with existing LeftField 3 Baseplates and C70 Risers – minimising the cost of upgrading your full setup. The C80 Side Rib shares the same mounting system as the C70’s, allowing you to complete your cage without all-new components.

Clean Rigging

The Canon C80 Top Plate and Side Rib complement each other perfectly; with an array of mounting options including 1/4″ and 3/8” anti-twist points as well as MAP M4 points, a Cold Shoe mount, QD sockets, NATO rails and 15mm rod support. You can form a robust Canon C80 camera cage, offering customisation freedom without compromising the C80’s footprint or functionality.

LeftField 3 Compatible

The base mounting point for the C80 Side Rib is the same as that on the original C70 Side Plate, meaning that existing LeftField 3 Risers can still be used to complete your cage. For DJI shooters who already own our LeftField 3 Canon C70 QR Baseplate (DJI RS 4 & RS 3) or the LeftField 3 Canon C70 QR Baseplate don’t need to get rid of them.

Locked In

The C80 Top Plate attaches to your camera at three points for added security. Alongside the central flathead screw, there are two screws – marked by padlocks – that help keep your Top Plate firmly in place. Though one of them does slot into the C80’s Film Plane Hook, we’ve got a dedicated slot on the Top Plate itself that means you can still use it for precise measurements.

Instructions/Assembly

The LeftField Upgrade Kit (Canon C70 to C80) comes with all required screws. You will require an existing LeftField 3 Baseplate and compatible Riser, along with a 3mm Hex Key.

Top Plate to Camera

1. Use a flathead screwdriver to screw the central screw of the Top Plate to the C80’s top point.

2. Remove the Film Plane Hook from the C80 body.

3. Use a 3mm Hex Key to screw the included bolt into the Film Plane Hook Slot – marked with a padlock on the Top Plate.

4. Use the 3mm Hex Key to screw the third and final screw into the C80’s strap point – also marked with a padlock.

Side Rib to Top Plate

1. Align the top of the Side Rib with the marked screw thread on the C80 Top Plate – the writing should be upwards with the Cold Shoe mount at the top of the plate.

2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly screw the captive M4 screw through to the Top Plate – the locating pins will help ensure a flush fit.

Side Rib to Riser

1. Align the M4 screw and locating pins at the bottom of your C80 Side Rib with the corresponding thread on the base mount.

2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly screw the captive M4 screw through both components.

Compatibility

The LeftField Upgrade Kit is designed for use with the Canon C80, bridging existing Canon C70 accessories. Users who previously bought either the LeftField 3 Canon C70 QR Baseplate (DJI RS 4 & RS 3) or the LeftField 3 Canon C70 QR Baseplate can still use them.

The Side Rib can also be mounted to the Canon Riser for LeftField Mini (DJI RS) or the Canon C70 & C80 Riser for LeftField Mini.
