Introducing the Halo: A New Universal Cage for Any Camera
Ever wonder how much time you’ve spent bolting plates into place on your camera, trying out different combinations that don’t work? Or how many times have you resold your rig when you upgrade your camera – or worse yet, had to throw it all away and start over?
As part of our sustainability goals, we’ve worked to create a camera cage that works with any camera: avoiding the lengthy prep sessions on set as you get your camera set up. Compatible with any camera from a Sony Alpha through to an ARRI ALEXA, we are excited to present the Halo Universal Camera Cage, the only camera cage you’ll ever need.

What is the Halo?
Where classic camera cages come in piecemeal components, such as a dedicated top plate or side plates, the Halo comes as a fully-assembled wraparound camera cage. Since nothing actually attaches to the camera, setup times are now measured in seconds.
So, how do you set up the Halo? The cage mounts to 15mm support rods, at the 15mm LWS standard width. This means that any basic baseplate, like those in our LeftField range, is compatible.
But for really minimalist setups on gimbals or for handheld shooting, why not use our Universal Dovetail? Just like the Halo, the Universal Dovetail can be used with any camera system – along with DJI gimbals and Manfrotto standard tripods. If you want to keep your rig light without sacrificing compatibility, this is the ideal combination.
Don’t be afraid to add weight, though: the Halo can comfortably hold 10kg without flexing, and is covered with secure mounting options. Take your pick from 1/4″ and 3/8” screw threads, MAP M4 points, integrated NATO rails, QD sockets and Cold Shoe mounts. If it goes on a camera, it can go on a Halo.
Should I Get the Halo?
Our goal with making the Halo was to create a cage that can last through your whole career: whether you are just starting out with shooting on a hybrid stills camera, or are prepping for a feature film shoot on a cine rig. The Halo allows you to swap or upgrade cameras at any time, without changing anything about your setup – meaning that you are always ready for even the most ambitious of projects.
The Halo comes as a standalone cage or as part of kits with the Universal Dovetail and a range of other accessories. For smaller cameras, where the lenses dip below the base of the camera, we offer a simple Arca Riser and Receiver system. This gives you the extra height for dovetail mounting, along with quick-release convenience for getting to your camera.
