With the Expert Documentary Kit for Blackmagic URSA Cine, you can seamlessly shoot on tripods, handheld or shoulder rig setups – and switch between them just as easily. Featuring our KASBAH Ātman Shoulder Rig with an integrated VCT-14 mount, the Expert Documentary Kit is perfect for run-and-gun documentary shoots or grounded interview setups. With the combination of D-Style Handle and Top Plate, you can rig your URSA Cine with an array of camera components.

KASBAH Comfort
Long days on the move can be exhausting and uncomfortable, but the Expert Documentary Kit’s included shoulder rig helps ease the burden. Our two-axis KASBAH Ātman Shoulder Rig is comfortable and practical: featuring a comfortable shoulder pad made from a unique 3D-printed resin matrix. Slide the KASBAH Shoulder Pad back-and-forth and left-to-right, to both balance the rig and find the most comfortable position. The integrated VCT-14 mount also allows you to secure the entire Ātman on tripods – which means that you don’t need to disassemble your rig when moving from different mounts.
BUD-Compatible
For mounting the URSA Cine to your setup, we recommend the Universal BUD Plate – of course included in this kit. Mounting to the base of the URSA Cine, it provides a quick-release from the KASBAH Ātman or other compatible ARRI BUD dovetails.
Here’s a Tip: The Universal BUD Plate can also set the URSA Cine to the 15mm LWS standard height if mounted to our LeftField 3 BUD-Compatible Baseplate (not included).
Ready for Rigging
The Expert Documentary Kit expands the possibilities of your URSA Cine, with an array of practical features and addons for your cinema camera. Our dedicated URSA Cine Top Plate provides a level platform for rigging a range of accessories; featuring 1/4″ and 3/8” anti-twist points, along with MAP M4 points and QD sockets. On the off-chance you run out of space, the optional extension piece can be fitted to either side for extra rigging potential.
Easily Handled
For low-angle shooting, keep things steady with our D-Style Master Handle. This enclosed handle is perfect for carrying and rigging your URSA Cine: covered in accessory mounting points of its own – including a dedicated mount for the Top Bar Bracket and 19mm Rod Mount and accompanying Bar Bracket Spacer. For a more specialised handle shape, add a few of our Master Handle Extensions.
Rod-Ready
If you’re looking to keep your rig low-profile whilst also keeping an eye on your shots, the Expert Documentary Kit gives you a downsized alternative to the stock URSA Cine EVF. Simply remove the 19mm rod from the mechanism and thread it into the included Bar Bracket and Rod Mount, and get ready to shoot.

Instructions/Assembly
BUD Plate to Camera
1. Align the 3/8” and 1/4″ screws in the BUD Plate with the threads on the URSA Cine’s base.
2. Use a flathead screwdriver to secure the two together.
Top Plate to Camera
1. Align the three captive 1/4″ screws with the three slots on the Blackmagic URSA Cine.
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to tightly screw the Top Plate to the camera.
Top Plate Extension to Top Plate
1. Align the Top Plate Extension’s M4 screw with the thread marked “EXT” on the back-left or back-right of the Top Plate.
2. Use a 2.5mm Hex Key in order to secure the Extension in place.
Top Handle to Plate
1. Align the two captive 3/8” screws with the corresponding slots on the Top Plate – the screws can slide to adjust.
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to attach the handle to the plate.
Bar Bracket Spacer to Top Handle
1. Align the Spacer’s nub with the inlet on the Top Bar Bracket, aligning the screw threads.
2. Align the Top Handle on the other side, ensuring the Spacer is flush against both components.
3. Insert the two M4 x 25mm screws through all three components.
4. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tighten the screws, ensuring all three parts are secured.
Top Bar Bracket to Spacer
1. Align the M4 screws of the Top Bar Bracket and Rod Mount with the threads marked “15mm LWS” on the front of the handle.
2. Insert the two M4 x 25mm screws through all components.
3. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tighten the screws, ensuring all three parts are secured.
KASBAH Shoulder Pad to KASBAH Ātman Frame
1. Slide the Shoulder Pad onto the rear and click it into place with the clamp.
VCT-14 Mount to KASBAH Ātman Frame
1. Align the two VCT-14 components with the matching threads on the KASBAH frame base, using the locating pins for guidance.
2. Use a 4mm Hex Key to secure them in place.
Universal BUD Plate to KASBAH Ātman
1. Attach the Universal BUD Plate to the base of your camera setup.
2. Slide the camera into place and lock the dovetail clamp in place.
Compatibility
The Expert Documentary Kit for Blackmagic URSA Cine is designed for both the 12K and 17K variations of the Blackmagic URSA Cine, with the dedicated Top Plate designed to fit the camera body. However, all other components are universal, for maximum longevity and compatibility with other cameras.
