Downsized, not Downgraded

The LeftField Mini Baseplate is 60% the size of the full-fledged LeftField 3 equivalent but lacks none of the functionality. Our patented Open•UP quick-release system allows you to easily relocate your entire rig with ease, swapping from mount to mount cleanly and efficiently. Perfectly proportioned for more compact cameras, the LeftField Mini is ideal for pairing with the C80.

DJI Design

The DJI Base Kit features a DJI Riser: compatible with a range of Canon cameras including the C80. Coupled with the LeftField Mini Baseplate, you can set your camera up correctly for gimbal use for easy switching between static and stabilised shots.

One-of-a-Kind Dovetail

The Universal Dovetail, meanwhile, is the mounting solution that makes the DJI Base Kit as convenient as possible. The spring-loaded gear rack for DJI gimbals makes it easy to mount to compatible gimbals, and a safety stop ensures that the dovetail doesn’t detach by itself. When you want to switch to shooting on sticks, simply release the dovetail and the rest of the rig and mount it straight onto a Manfrotto tripod.

Top Plate Convenience

Our C80 Top Plate offers freedom for customising your camera. The Top Plate provides a canvas for customisation with 1/4″ and 3/8” anti-twist points; as well as MAP M4 points, a Cold Shoe mount, QD sockets and 15mm rod support. Securely mounted from three points, the Top Plate is a firm foundation for rigging. The Top Plate is designed to keep essential functions free, or relocate them on the Top Plate so that you can customise without compromise.

Quick-Release Top Handle

The Top Plate also features a side-to-side NATO rail for attaching different accessories – which sits over the mount for the stock C80 Top Handle. This isn’t a flaw but a feature: the LeftField Mini Base Kit also features a NATO Mount, that converts your stock Top Handle for use with the Top Plate – adding further freedom to your setup. The Handle clicks into place when dead-centre on the Top Plate.

Instructions/Assembly

The LeftField Mini Canon C80 DJI Base Kit comes with all required components and screws. You will need a flathead screwdriver as well as a 3mm Hex Key to install.

DJI Riser to LeftField Mini Baseplate

Left

1. Align the Riser’s mounting holes with the two M4 threads on the outer edge of the LeftField Mini Baseplate – on the same side as the release clamp.

2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly screw the M4 threads through the Riser and the Baseplate.

Middle

1. Align the profile of the middle part of the Riser, aligning the M4 screw threads and ensuring that the Riser plate is centred.

2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly screw the M4 threads through the Riser and the Baseplate.

Right

1. Line up the orange safety stop with the corresponding port on the LeftField Mini Baseplate, sliding it in until the M4 screw threads are aligned.

2. Use a 3mm Hex Key to tightly screw the M4 threads through the Riser and the Baseplate.

Camera to Dovetail

1. Align the 1/4” and 3/8” screw with the corresponding thread on the base of your camera.

2. Use a flathead screwdriver to tighten the screw into place.

Dovetail to Riser

1. Slide the dovetail plate in through the front of the baseplate, until it is optimally aligned and balanced. Dovetails can only be loaded from the front.

2. When in place, use the ratcheting lever clamp to secure the Riser.

Top Plate to Camera

1. Use a flathead screwdriver to screw the central screw of the Top Plate to the C80’s top point.

2. Remove the Film Plane Hook from the C80 body.

3. Use a 3mm Hex Key to screw the included bolt into the Film Plane Hook Slot – marked with a padlock on the Top Plate.

4. Use the 3mm Hex Key to screw the third and final screw into the C80’s strap point – also marked with a padlock.

Top Handle to NATO Mount

1. Align the striped rosette of the C80 Top Handle with the stripes on the NATO Mount.

2. Use the 1/4″ thumbscrew on the Top Handle to tightly secure the two components together.

NATO Mount to NATO Rail

1. Loosen the lever clamp slightly and slide the NATO Mount onto a compatible NATO rail.

2. When in position, tighten the lever clamp.

Compatibility

The LeftField Mini Canon C80 DJI Base Kit is designed to be compatible with DJI RS gimbals and the Canon C80 – as well as standard Manfrotto tripod plates or ARRI dovetails for alternate accessory mounting. When assembled, the C80 is set to the correct height for gimbal use.
